Bauer Media Outdoor continues to expand its (D)OOH footprint in Flanders with the strategic acquisition of Aalst

Following the City of Sint-Truiden, Bauer Media Outdoor continues to expand its network in Flanders after being awarded the new street furniture contract for the City of Aalst, for a period of 9 years. This new collaboration marks a further milestone in the company’s growth strategy and significantly strengthens its digital footprint in one of the country's most dynamic regions.

Strengthening (D)OOH Coverage in Flanders

Under this concession, Bauer Media Outdoor will deploy 43 bus shelters, featuring 20 digital screens and 69 paper panels. This new installation strengthens the company’s digital network density in Flanders and consolidates its ability to offer advertisers high-performance coverage along one of the country's main transit corridors, between Brussels and Ghent.

With a population of over 90,000, Aalst stands out as an essential economic and commercial hub in East Flanders. Its strategic location, high traffic flows, and commercial appeal make it a highly relevant environment for brands. Every year, the city also hosts one of the country’s most iconic popular events: the Aalst Carnival, which attracts over 100,000 visitors. Between its bustling city center, large catchment area, and role as a regional crossroads, Aalst represents a highly attractive territory for advertisers looking to reach a broad, active, and diverse audience.

Street Furniture Designed for Citizens and the City

Beyond the advertising dimension, the project has been designed to meet citizens' expectations and enhance the quality of public spaces. Each bus shelter will be equipped with USB ports, allowing users to charge their mobile devices.

As part of this concession, Bauer Media Outdoor will also install four automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and new bicycle racks, thereby contributing to active mobility and resident safety.

Furthermore, the City of Aalst will benefit from dedicated spaces for its institutional communication, in both paper and digital formats, enabling it to efficiently inform citizens about local events, projects, and initiatives.

Confirmed Growth Momentum in Flanders

With the successive wins of Sint-Truiden and Aalst, Bauer Media Outdoor further strengthens its presence in Flemish cities and pursues its strategy to develop a (D)OOH network that is increasingly high-performing and relevant for both brands and local authorities.

"We are delighted to continue our development in Flanders with this new collaboration. Aalst is a dynamic, fast-evolving city that combines economic appeal, mobility, and quality of life. We are proud to deploy an infrastructure here that delivers genuine added value to both citizens and advertisers," says Jan De Moor, Managing Director of Bauer Media Outdoor Belgium.
